Hopi Ear Candling

At the Soulfull Living Academy we can help you to improve your quality of life through tailored one to one sessions

Sessions available in Dunoon & Innellan, Argyll

Hopi ear candling, or Thermo-auricular therapy involves specially designed hollow candles being inserted just inside the ear canal. The candle is then lit and the suction draws impurities from within the ear through a process known as the 'chimney effect'.

The history of fire has fascinated people from the beginning of time and control of this element gave light and warmth.

Ear candles evoke a similar fascination and have been used by many cultures as an effective natural therapy since ancient times. At the Soulfull Living Academy we only use the best quality BIOSUN ear candles. Although they are called candles, they are not actually candles, they are hollow hand made tubes, made from the best quality, 100% natural ingredients. Impregnated with pure beeswax, honey extract and traditional herbs such as St John's wort, camomile, sage and essential oils.

Historical roots can be found among the peoples of the Siberian prairies, Asia and the native North and South American Indians. The Hopi, the oldest Pueblo people with great medicinal knowledge, and a high degree of spirituality, brought this knowledge to Europe.

Benefits of Ear Candling

  • Soothing and helpful for earache & headache, migraine, rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma
  • Good for treating any ear, nose and throat, or upper chest issue, hay fever, blocked tear ducts
  • Aids with hearing loss, ear noise (tinnitus), excessive earwax, stress and nervousness
  • Also, vertigo, labyrinthitis, colds, Meniere's disease.
  • Profoundly beneficial for sufferers of long-term insomnia
  • The physical effect is often described directly after the treatment as a soothing, pressure and pain relieving sensation, mainly in the ear and head area.
  • Treatment may spontaneously cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, even when the nose was blocked before treatment

What happens during a session?

A session is carried out with the client lying down in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing as the treatment is only on the ears and face.

A full consultation will be completed, ensuring that there are no contra-indications - see below.

Ear candles have a physical function. A light suction action and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum

A hopi ear candle is lit in each ear in turn and the treatment completed with a lymphatic drainage massage of the face and neck.

A typical session will last approximately 45 minutes.

The whole ceremony brings a wonderful relaxation, a deep sense of security and a feeling of happiness

Although anyone can be treated with Hopi ear candles, there are some conditions for which they are not suitable.

You should not receive a treatment if you have any of the following:

Ear infection, inflammation of the ear, surgery on the ear within the last 3 months, perforation of the ear drum, grommets, drains or ventilation tubes fitted, or a known allergy to any of the ingredients in the candle (see above and check with your therapist).
