Handmade Frame Drums & Beaters
Handcrafted drums looking for their new keeper
Each drum is individually handcrafted by me in Argyll, Scotland, using carefully sourced deer or goat hide with ash, oak or willow frames.
Every drum has its own character, markings and unique voice, and comes with a handmade needle-felted beater.

About my drums
Each drum is created individually rather than mass-produced, so no two are ever exactly alike.
The hides are carefully selected and may retain natural markings, colour variations and features that reflect the life of the animal. Some drums are left natural while others are hand-dyed.
At the centre of each drum is my woven willow heart handle, created from four pieces of willow to honour the Four Directions. The handle is designed to sit comfortably in the palm rather than needing to be tightly gripped.
Every drum comes with a handmade needle-felted beater, created using naturally found wood wherever possible.
Recordings of individual drums are available on their own pages so you can hear their voice before choosing.

Can't find the drum you're looking for?
If none of the currently available drums feels like the right one, I also create bespoke drums to commission.
Or, if you'd love to create your own, you can join me for a Drum Birthing experience and be guided through the whole process yourself.
Get in touch and I'd be delighted to chat about the possibilities.
Handcrafted by Dawn Petherick
Every drum is individually created in my workshop in Argyll, Scotland.
I never make two identical drums. Each has its own markings, character and voice — and is simply waiting to find the person it is meant to journey with.
